Bees, Wasps, and Hornets First Aid...

  • The first step in treating a sting is removal of the sting itself. It should be removed as quickly as possible without regard to technique.
  • It is suggested that antihistamines be taken if allergic reactions are present, such as swelling, itching, and redness.
  • Topical anesthetics can help reduce pain.
  • You can also use cold compresses and ice which can reduce swelling, ease pain, and slow the reach of the venom.
  • To prevent infection, wash the area with antibacterial soap and water and treat the area with an antiseptic.
  • Unlike bees, wasps and hornets do not lose their sting after stinging an individual. They can continue to sting even after first strike. So be sure to leave the immediate area if you are stung by a wasp or hornet.
  • If reactions become severe, contact an emergency medical professional.

Call Falcon to protect you and your family from harmful swarms and dangerous stings.
